ATSF 461... by the paint-job, but the plate on her says: "US Property Dept of Air Force / USAF, USAF - 1241, Locomotive DE 44 Ton 52½ In Ga 0-4-4-0 Class... Mfr General Electric Co 31879 Date 1953" - then again, wouldnt be the first re-registry to ever ply the rails (or the display case). Unfortunately the depot was closed for a school tour (although the gentleman running the depot offered to allow us to quickly trot through - but the westward push of vacation urged us onward - so its possible the questions wouldve been answered inside the depot (as it was moments after his offer, the parking lot filled with the young voices being expelled from the several transport vans). |
