I haven't seen the statistics yet to prove/disprove how bad of an idea silent crossings are... although I'm sure the locals prefer the quiet, I still miss it (and fear the day our local crossing down below the house back home in Vancouver goes silent... there's something comforting in the deep, dark of early morning hearing the train 'whistle' (horn) for the crossing. |
