UP 5332 |
Description: |
UP 5332 leading a group of three charging hard with string of northbound covered hoppers around the lower corner into the at-grade crossing area in Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge - with Rail Police sitting in the distance (funny how that makes you feel like a criminal just out taking pictures of trains) - so we didnt hang around to see who the green was set up for from the north. Note the color changes in the trees and lack of leaves is actually from drought, oddly enough (for us) having no real measurable precipitation for almost three months now and record high temperatures. |

UP 5332 - CP 9778 |
Description: |
UP 5332 - CP 9778 in the deep shadows of sundown, the third unit behind them lost in angle and darkness as we bid goodnight to the sun this winter in the throat to the Port of Vancouver reversing loop. Remarkably enough, we finish the day nearly a foot behind on rainfall and a year of drought. Who wouldve guessed just over a week later the drought would be officially broken, all the reservoirs refilled, and snow falling in the upper levels for next years water - back to a normal year in the rain gauge making up the entire previous eleven month deficit in that short period of time. It was certainly nice while it lasted and I havent even started to complain about the deluge (yet) remembering the past year of good weather, sun, and dry photographic opportunities. |
