BNSF 4125 pushing and the only power unit on this southbound load of covered hoppers that found its way to my sensor... what can I say? For once in my life I was ahead - not just in the game, but the set, everything - completely skunked my very-much-better-than-me wife on the tennis court - not that Id ever make it public knowledge that after only a quarter century of playing tennis with her, I finally not only made her work to beat the stuffings out of me, but actually, without the benefit of injuries to her, won fair and square. So, yes, I admit, there was distraction and I missed the front units (although trying to catch silent southbounds from the tennis courts is much more challenging now that both Connell at-grade crossings are silent - because the noise doesnt come up to the courts until the units are already in the shooting range area from the end of the courts (if you run like a madman to get down to the end of the courts) - so, really, I didnt have to mention the fact that I was winning (and won), but being such a momentous occasion, deserved to be logged somewhere in the realms of recorded history (at least according to me. Did I mention twenty-five years of playing tennis with her and this is the first (and likely only) time I ever whomped her? (Update: Id almost have to presume unreported injury on her part, though, because this happened again within the next 48 hours as well - she managed to win only a random game here and there - so maybe not as great of an achievement as first thought. Maybe sometime in the next twenty-five years Ill do it again). |
