(So the folks in Weiser can make fun of my family, they can look for a book on either Seneca, Kansas or Gause, Texas... trust me, were all in this together and Im pretty sure Weiser is a sprawling metropolis compared to either one of the two family destination "cities") (Oh, of course the 800 pound gorilla book site that sounds like a river in South America refuses to carry such books, but almost all the other, including the fruit site, "Stables n Gentry" (when you figure it out, itll make more sense, and possibly be a little funny), and lots of other electronic book sites have it... but not that river site (sorry)) - anyway, photo credit to the better half now that shes awake and shooting out the window as were continuing through the hills and starting our decent. |

UP 8756 pushing the double-stack along... and, yes, while we wondered into the local hardware store to look at hats (where else do _you_ find inexpensive cowboy hats?) we stepped out to the sound of moving trains... and the first drops of rain... which held off until I heard the pusher approaching and stepped out into the middle of the road to get the shot... then the sky opened up for a classic Southern Downpour that lasted less than two minutes... just long enough for me to get the shot (and soaked). (Which is sort of bad, because Im from the Pacific Northwest, people were looking at me like I was stupid standing out in the rain - yet, Im trained to ignore the rain or youd forever be stuck under an awning waiting for it to stop... and possibly miss pictures of trains.) |

(Dang - did Canon spoil me? Cameras break relatively easy, but, dang - any hints on what Im doing wrong? This is my first non-"real" camera maker camera (ie Pentax, Olympus, Canon have all be held and used in the past... but a review said my first choice replacement Canon was inferior to this Sony HX80, but right now, Id pit my ancient Canon 720 against it without hesitation. Im hoping its a learning curve thing... or some setting Ive failed to tweak. I shoot in shutter priority mode predominantly so I can select my speed, then let the camera choose aperture/ISO for the most part. Hints? Or am I done for in shooting/sharing images?) |

BNSF 5885 - BNSF 8797 with southbound garbage scow double-stack "fresh" out of Seattle-Tacoma and headed toward Arlington, Oregon. And I dont remember this much crap weather from July - I know, funny thing to hear *me* of all people to say. |
