CBRW 302 - CBRW 651 - CBRW 652
Title:  CBRW 302 - CBRW 651 - CBRW 652
Description:  CBRW 302 - CBRW 651 - CBRW 652... dammit, dammit, dammit... after running a quarter mile or more, I managed to make it back to one hill away from where I wanted to be for this group dropping out of the hills and crossing the trestle - one hill _away_ from where Id staked out for almost an hour-and-a-half through shifting light levels and wonder - before wandering off thinking Id come up empty again. And luck would have it, theyre running a couple minutes early. Halfway have to wonder if all that was on purpose to see if the out-of-shape fart with the camera would have a coronary after running in an attempt to at least salvage _some_ sort of shot from the afternoon. Although I have to admit, I was laughing pretty hard at my stupidity and lack-of-luck - but at least there were trains. Guess any day with trains is a good day.

CBRW 651 - CBRW 1626 - CBRW 166 - CBRW 302
Title:  CBRW 651 - CBRW 1626 - CBRW 166 - CBRW 302
Description:  CBRW 651 - CBRW 1626 - CBRW 166 - CBRW 302 preparing to round the corner up and out of the Connell depression (only partial pun intended) as they climb up away from the Class-I BNSF interchange with the local folks. I have to say it, having watched others in various fields, from medicine to shipping and distribution... Ive never seen crews work so well together between ancillary businesses like appear here at the CBRW-BNSF interchange: depending on the day and efficiency in making every maneuver count while reducing the blocked at-grade crossings to the absolute minimum, the two crews of these railroads work extremely well together, and even if one or the other has to make additional shifts, hauls, and drops, before I can figure it out, theyve proven to have arrived at a wonderfully effective solution... so hats off, and congratulations. Somewhere, someday, I hope yall are recognized for what you both do, because the cooperation to achieve the best possible gains, even if you have to work a little more to help out another business, is truly amazing.

CBRW 651
Title:  CBRW 651
Description:  CBRW 651 as the up-hill unit of the local quad from Warden preparing to put the pedal to the metal (or at least run-8 on the board) now that the BNSF delivery pair has cleared the lower switch points (BNSF 144776 just barely visible over the long-hood end of CBRW 1626 (still in BNSF pumpkin)) in preparation to clear the blocked crossing before the timer dings on the Connell vigilantes... I mean, vigilant public (I know, as an out-of-towner I dont have a voice, but, honestly, the rails were here for a long time and there is an over-pass, albeit a two-mile detour, but, seriously - the folks working the rail are just doing their job, and they do it quite well and much faster than in other locations, so give them some credit... and quit submitting complaints in the rare instance when an old-timer comes barreling into Connell at three in the morning, in the dark, and hits the horn once or twice before it dawns on him this part of the run has changed... after only, uh, eighty or a hundred years? Thats a pretty tough habit to break. Apologies. Off the soapbox and back to the action).

If you've ever been curious about this particular area, please feel free to grab a copy of a book detailing my meanderings up here: "Nothing Interesting" at http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/946183 - and at checkout use coupon code RA54U to get it free (if you're reading this and it's past expiration, just drop me a line and I'll freshen it up - this discount/free copy is provided to all the fine folks that've supported me (and put up with my drivel) over the years here at RRPA.net - I appreciate everyone's comments & support, and hope y'all have enjoyed my silence while just posting photos up here... but if you missed my diatribes, grab a copy (or if you want, get it and ignore the text and just enjoy the pictures from the hills where these pictures in Connell are often snapped). Thanks again, everyone! Enjoy - Bob (and crew)

Description:  "New" speed hand-off running local-unit grain train up and out of the Eastern Washington hills; I presume having a Columbia Basin Railway unit on the 'outbound' string allows a quick hand-off drop from the larger BNSF SD's (which also have the benefit of relatively straight / slight down-hill grade back to Pasco Yard). Compared to previous exchanges between the Class I and CBRW, this one happens relatively quick. The BNSF then shuffle into the Connell yard to time it between other priority traffic on the main before the three-to-four shuffle to reassemble the inbound grain train before heading back south to the Tri-Cities.
