Contrary to the divergent eastbound tracks at the bottom of the frame, this line-up of double-stacks out of the Seattle-Tacoma port area (replacing Portland, since closed to container traffic) is headed southbound back to UP territory across the Columbia River train bridge off to the left and behind the camera position. |

The trio paused between consists just north of the 39th Street bridge Im currently using for a brief moment of cover from the rain while trying to clean the lens and figure out my own stupidity for leaving early to church "so I could have at least 30 minutes of almost daylight" before darkness falls in another 15-20 minutes... turned out to be thirty extra minutes to perfect my wet dog smell which I achieved far quicker than expected wearing Sunday Goin-To-Meetin clothes. To all those seated in the neighboring pews, I apologize for putting serious pew into those same pews (honestly - in some societies wet dog smell is the aroma of royalty!). |

Except for the fact they refused to turn on the heat in the church, I dont think I wouldve traded the evening for most anyone elses. Thanks for trains. |

AMTK 469 power/pusher on southbound Cascades doing a near-touch-and-go, PNWR 3007 was the lead unit in the northward local, then trailing unit in the quick get out of the way of the Cascades reverse back into the station area, but will return back out to the yard area (crossing the left/Amtrak occupied track to get access to the yard & her staged local for the return trip south back across the bridge (partially visible in the background to the right near the setting sun). BNSF 2752 is in the paired bridge protection spur waiting for inaction. All below the last moments of sunset a day after New Years. Id have to admit, sort of a neat way to start the year. |
